Paradise Road: Directions & Detours to Trentham Waters Resort

Tucked on the gentle bend of the Murray River, where red gums rise and sunsets linger, Trentham Waters Resort sits just 15 minutes from Mildura, ready to welcome travellers of every kind. Whether you’re towing a caravan, rolling with the kids, or taking your time between city and country, the journey here is part of the joy.

From Melbourne

The most direct way is via the Calder Highway (A79) – around six hours’ drive from Melbourne to Mildura, through a countryside that shifts from forest to saltbush and farmland.

Recommended stopovers:

  • Taradale / Mount Alexander
Historic viaducts, charming bakeries, and early morning fog lifting off the hills.
  • Bendigo
A vibrant regional city full of galleries, laneway cafes, and rich gold rush history.
  • Charlton & Wycheproof
Wide open skies, walking trails, and Australia’s smallest registered mountain.
  • Sea Lake & Lake Tyrrell
A must-see detour where salt flats mirror the sky, perfect at sunrise or sunset.

From there, it’s an easy run into Mildura and a short 15-minute drive across the river to Trentham Waters Resort

From Adelaide

A relaxed 4.5 to 5-hour drive via the Sturt Highway, the journey takes you through the heart of the Riverland – orchard country, vineyards, and sunlit river towns.

Stops worth making:

  • Barmera & Berri
Scenic lunch spots and river views.
  • Renmark
Coffee, riverfront strolls, and a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Paringa Bridge
An iconic crossing steeped in history.

After Renmark, it’s an easy drive east to Mildura and Trentham Waters.

From Sydney

Around 11 hours’ drive, the trip from Sydney is a classic road adventure best enjoyed over two days along the inland Riverina route.

Suggested breaks:

  • Wagga Wagga
Botanic gardens, galleries, and river walks.
  • Narrandera or Hay
Wide plains, silo art, and country calm.
  • Balranald
The gateway to the outback and a peaceful last stop before Mildura.

Once in Mildura, Trentham Waters Resort is just a short hop across the river to your peaceful retreat.
